East of Marbella begins an area with a distinct style and appeal. Extending for kilometres along the coastline en route to Fuengirola, it encompasses areas such as Los Monteros, El Rosario, Las Chapas, Cabopino, Elviria and Calahonda, all characterised by their low-rise style of development set amid the typical umbrella pine trees of the area.
With the exception of Los Monteros, one of the most exclusive residential areas on this side of Marbella, the coastal strip is dominated not by grand seaside villas but by attractively laid out apartment complexes and townhouses. On the inland side, however, villas do dominate, creating leafy suburban areas dissected by golf courses and dotted with sports clubs and local commercial centres.
The area is home to some of the finest dunes and beaches on this coast, as well as a collection of first-class resort hotels, beach clubs, seaside restaurants and international colleges, explaining its popularity among both year-round residents and vacationers. With a great choice of settings, property types and sizes, the eastern part of Marbella caters to a great variety of budgets and personal tastes.
